We started at a bad time, just before the Christmas holiday, He was doing very poorly in Geometry. He just got an "A" on his last quiz! We're very excited about his progress so far and are looking forward to even greater success." Hobbies
First of all -- please note that while I am listed as living in Havre de Grace, I commute to Towson University for classes 5 days a week, and so my availability region is anywhere between those locations. I work well with all types of students -- low achievers, high achievers, students with disabilities, students who are traditionally popular, students who are not traditionally popular -- because I don't judge students based on what they look like, or what their current grades are. My job is to help you learn math (or science, or writing skills, or whatever) and so that's what I'm going to focus on. When I tutor, I try to give you more than a formula for solving a certain type of problem -- I want you to be able to figure it out yourself, to have the problem-solving skills necessary to do it all without me there guiding you. That's what is most important to me, as a teacher, is helping you learn how to learn. I'll draw pictures, act out scenarios, whatever it takes to help you understand. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and teaching, and I think that really comes across during sessions -- it has the effect of making students relax, and let go of any subject-related anxiety that they may have. (Math really isn't that scary! Honest!)
